Guidance Mentors

You are invited to become a Volunteer Guidance Mentor to an emerging business.

We are looking for individuals who:

  • have experience in starting, owning or managing a business;
  • have worked in the capacity of advising and/or providing technical assistance to businesses;
  • have failed and succeeded in business;
  • want to be a "coach," a "godfather/godmother," an advisor, and a "cheerleader" to an emerging business.

The Entrepreneurs Center (TEC) tenants are assigned at least one guidance mentor. The assignment is made through a matching process and is based upon the assessed business needs of the tenants. Tenant need will be assessed through a review of the Company's background and interviews with top management. In the rare case where more than one is assigned, one mentor will be designated as the key, or lead, mentor. This individual is the designated "first point of contact" for the tenant.

A sub-committee will review volunteer Guidance Mentor applications and will determine whether the candidate:

  • meets the established criteria; and,
  • fulfills a vacancy within the significant segment matrix.

The significant segment matrix is a selection tool which depicts the appropriateness, experience, background and personality traits of the volunteer mentor.

All mentors will be required to sign a Confidentiality/Release of Liability Agreement and a Statement of Conflict of Interest with any tenant with whom they interact.
