Commercial Funding Commercial Finance Group provides financing for business to business receivables for companies that don't qualify for bank lending. [ Back to Top ] Edison BioTechnology Center, Inc., Cleveland, OH The BioInvestment Fund is a creative financing source for start-up and early-stage companies in Ohio's biomedical/biotechnology industry. It is a tool to help bridge the gap between traditional research funding and bank, angel or venture financing. Applicants may either be start-up or small existing companies. Amount available: up to $100,000. Eligibility: Start-up and early-stage biomedical/biotechnology companies located in the state of Ohio are eligible for funding. Companies must be incorporated, and have annual sales of less than $5 million. Matching commitments of 1:1 or greater is expected. Use of Funds: Technology Development, Marketing Activities, Business Development, Legal Expenses (those directly related to acquisition or expansion of intellectual property), Patent Expenses, Development of Plans and Submissions to regulatory agencies.

The United Negro College Fund administers the program in partnership with the Hispanic Scholarship Fund and the American Indian College Fund.
Details: [ Back to Top ] NCIC Capital Fund The National Center for Industrial Competitiveness (NCIC) was formed as an innovative not-for-profit corporation to respond to the economic development needs of the Great Lakes Region. Its initial funding has been received from the federal government and was matched with funding from the State of Ohio. NCIC will drive long-term economic growth and job creation by leveraging new and existing businesses, technology, training, information, and funding. NCIC provides loans to support product and business development for the start-up of new businesses and expansions of existing businesses. NCIC also leverages existing local, state and federal government organizations to supply a comprehensive set of goal oriented services.

The program's mission is provide professional, in-depth counseling and training to entrepreneurs and to foster a strong climate for small business growth. The Ohio Department of Development's SBDC program has established over 60 community partnerships to create a statewide integrated system of small business service, advocacy and awareness. Today, these federal state and local partnerships contribute cash and in-kind resources of over $10 million dollars in support of small business development.
